Throw together a labrador mix puppy, an itty bitty apartment, a broken engagement, umpteen episodes of house flipping shows on HGTV with the daughter of a retired contractor and what do you get? An amateur house flipper with more guts and gumption than common sense. Oh and don't forget the carpenter her father finally pawns off on her to help with the flipping project. Dad's got matchmaking on his mind but Gretchen wants nothing to do with Noah except in a business sense and then only reluctantly. However his darling daughter and her wacko dog have other ideas as well. Between the three who won't take no and their own two hearts Gretchen is fighting what appears to be a losing battle to stay single. Who or what will prevail in this contest of wills vs hearts? Will the house prove to be a horrible flop and a lesson in wisdom learned the hard way or will it become a shining gem of a home for someone and bring a deteriorating neighborhood hope and restoration catching a few hearts along the way?

What a comical ride this was yet so intensely serious at times. I was pulled right through to the end of the book in no time by the flow of events and circumstances that never let up. With all that Gretchen faced you'd expect this to have a more somber tone but it was a bundle of fun to read in spite all the difficulties. Grab your favorite B&J flavor and a copy of this book then settle in for several hours of summer diversion when Gretchen, her father and Noah attack a disaster of a house with the help of "demo dog" as her father dubs him. We can't forget the munchkins either, Kirsten (Noah's princess) and her new friend across the street, Cory, make great little helpers and entice Riley/"demo dog" with their company as playmates.
