"I said in August, when we talked about fan mail, that I planned on expanding that to live meetings when the time was right. Well, that time is now!
  • Have you ever met one of your favorite authors? Gotten their autograph?
  • How about an author you felt only so-so about, but got their autograph anyway? Like, say, at a book-signing a friend dragged you to?
  • How about stumbling across a book signing or reading and being so captivated, you bought the book?"
  • Never been drug or stumbled across a signing or reading of an author I discovered I liked.
I do however have sort of a "Cinderella" twist on the meeting a favorite author in person. This person actually stumbled onto me in a sense.

I am a voracious reader and more often than not carry a book or two along with my purse. At this point in time I was working in the Portland, OR area and living in Vancouver, WA (a bit of a commute). I was involved with the start up of a new fellowship group that was meeting in the Portland area as well. With gas constantly increasing in price I didn't want to make the commute multiple times a day so carried books with me and found a comfortable spot to bury myself in whatever I was reading until the meetings actually started each week.
This writer that stumbled upon me, who is now a friend, was also involved with this startup. When we first met, about all she knew about me was that I nearly always had my nose in a book. Little did I know at the time that she was on the lookout for MGP's (manuscript guinea pigs), as she calls us, for a book she had written years ago.

Somewhere along the way as we got to know one another she decided I was more than just a "guinea pig" and I've been involved with her and the process of this book for almost a year now. The book is being published and will be released for general sales on November 1st. The publisher
Cold Tree Press is taking preorders now. See my other posts on Geralyn Beauchamp and Time Master's Book One: The Call for more info and links.

So this is a bit backwards but I'd rather be friends with someone based on our common interests than clamoring with a crowd of fans just because they are good at something besides it's much nicer to be on the "inside" than have to be in the midst of all those clamoring fans. LOL!

And yes I will be acquiring an autographed copy of the book for my own library and bugging her about getting the sequel out which is hopefully going to be available next year sometime.

Be sure to come back and see me November 1 and 2 for an interview with Geralyn to celebrate the release of Time Masters. There'll be some fun stuff about Geralyn and I might even coax a teaser or two from her on Book Two.
